Valentine's is a day of love.

People think romantic love...

but why not all love?

WHAT IS LOVE?

The Bible can answer that one:

Love is patient,

Love is kind.

It does not envy,

It does not boast,

It is not proud.

It does not dishonor others,

It is not self-seeking,

It is not easily angered,

It keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects,

Always trusts,

Always hopes,

Always perseveres.

Love never fails.

1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-8

This summary clearly portrays love in action.

Love is a verb.

Love is what you do.

This is not romantic love which is based upon how you feel.

Love is based upon how you act.

WHO DO YOU LOVE?

Make a list.

Everyone you can think of.

Husband, wife, partner, children, relatives, friends, neighbours, work colleagues.

Pets can be included.

Now add people from your past.

Ex lovers.

Ex friends.

Loved ones who have died.

People you love from afar.

People you actively dislike.

People you admire but have never met.

People who get on your nerves.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO LOVE PEOPLE WE DON'T LIKE?

Because GOD commanded us to:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart

and with all your soul

and with all your mind

and with all your strength.’

The second is this:

‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

There is no commandment greater than these.”

MARK 12:30-31

HOW TO OBEY GOD

Every day add at least one more person to your list.

The telephone engineer who helped you.

The Border force guard.

Your child's teacher.

This chain of love will get longer and longer and you will be more and more blessed with the fruit of the HOLY SPIRIT the more you take action to love.

Let us pray.

FATHER GOD HELP US TO LOVE AS YOU LOVE.  HELP US TO BE MORE AND MORE LIKE JESUS EVERYDAY AND TO LOVE YOU AND OUR NEIGHBOUR WITH A PURE OPEN HEART.  IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME WE PRAY.  AMEN
