WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

In every situation we have a choice how to respond.

Sometimes we act without thinking.

Sometimes we react so badly we have a meltdown.

Sometimes we do things we later regret.

Sometimes we fail to do things we wish we had done. Life can be full of “if only” and “I wish I hadn’t said that”.

An example… “If we had played our best team we would have won.”

There are two aspects to that:

  1. They knew that had not done their best.
  2. They knew that if they had done their best the outcome would have been better.

Does this apply to you?

Ever?

What has this got to do with Jesus?

JESUS IS PERFECT

And behold, a voice from heaven said, “this is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.”

MATTHEW 3:17

The perfect man does exist.

He is GOD as well though.

So all we can do is worship and admire his infinite wisdom, power and holiness.

If you want to get better… look to Jesus.

JESUS’ PERSONALITY

So what was Jesus like?

There are many incredible aspects to Jesus’ amazing personality.:

  1. Loving
  2. Compassionate
  3. Forgiving
  4. Humble
  5. Obedient
  6. Honest
  7. Patient

If we wish to improve ourselves… pick one.

Maybe try to be more forgiving.

If that’s too hard… try compassion.

If you can’t get there try patience.

How does that work?

Imagine someone you love has shouted at you, got angry unfairly and you are hurt.

Can you forgive them?

No it still hurts…. Hmmm…

Can you feel compassion for them because they are stressed at work?

No, that’s not your problem and they should not take it out on you…

Okay…

Can you at least wait before you dish your hurt back to them?

Can you stop blanking them and just be polite?

Can you let things heal?

Can you show patience?

It’s a process, and using Jesus as an example of what to aim for can help us improve little by little. And of course, don’t forgot the magic formula…

What’s that you ask?

PRAY.

HOW AND WHEN TO PRAY

Jesus prayed a lot.

He prayed alone.

He prayed with his disciples.

He rose early and prayed.

He went to the garden and prayed. If he was so keen on praying… surely it must be important?

He sought out the Father’s direction at every step.

Try it.

Next time you feel lost.  PRAY

Next time you feel alone. PRAY

Next time you feel overwhelmed. PRAY

Next time you can’t forgive. PRAY

Next time you feel regret. PRAY

JESUS LOVES YOU

The incredible truth is that Jesus loves us all.

Jesus wants the best for us and is there to help and support us.

Just ask him.

JESUS WE THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE YOU HAVE GIVEN US AND WE ASK THAT YOU HELP US FACE OUR DIFFICULTIES IN LIFE AND LEARN HOW TO BECOME MORE LIKE YOU IN EVERYTHING WE SAY AND DO. AMEN
